Used 19 escape sync 3.0 18093

Recommended Posts

So I just got an escape running v3.0 18093.  When I plug in my phone via USB android auto runs on my phone and says connected to the escape.  The screen in the vehicle flashes a couple times and tries to display maps, sometimes will show navigation for 5 seconds or so before it flickers again and the suv acts like no phone is connected via USB but my phone still says android auto is running and connected.  Please help.  It's not a USB cable issue, and I have a flash drive in the mail because wifi updates don't work either no matter how good of a signal I can provide.  Again please help

If you just got the vehicle, do a Master Reset if you have not already done so.  This will wipe out all of the settings from the previous owner(s) and let you start fresh.  If that does not help, I would get the system updated to the latest for your vehicle to see if the problem continues.

Sometimes, the hardware just needs a clean restart so removing the appropriate fuse or disconnecting the battery could help.  If you disconnect the battery, be sure to check your owners manual for things to be aware of when changing the battery.

You mentioned it is not a USB cable problem, but not sure how you eliminated that at a possible cause.

Wifi updates on Sync 3.0 are iffy at best. I just turned off wifi and always go with the USB update.

When you do the USB update, be sure to carefully follow the directions and ignore the early Update Complete messages.  Leave the USB inserted until the updates are really done and the system no longer restarts on its own.  The update can take about an hour or so depending on the vehicle.

Did a system reset right away.  No help.  Have tried 6 different cables.  I just wonder if updating sync will even fix my android auto issue.  It runs on my phone but not the car

As alcohenusa advised, download the latest SYNC version for your vehicle from the Ford SYNC 3 Update Website and install it in your Escape via USB flash drive.

Let us know the outcome once you have done that.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Just curious, what version of the phone OS (and is it Beta) , same with Android Auto...

And I take it you have not done any updates to the vehicles Sync 3?

Is your phone able to connect via bluetooth?  What model phone do you have?  Have you connected to FordPass?  Android Auto had issues a few months back.  You might delete the app from your phone and reinstall it.  Can't hurt.
