Sync just one contact - please

I would like to sync just one contact - or enter one through the MySync interface.

Apparently the only option is to sync my entire multi thousand contact list which

I'm told presents problems for Sync.

 

Any pointers appreciated.

There is a way to do this. Clear phone book. Turn off auto phonebook download. Use add contacts from phone, to add 1 contact.

No matter how many times I try this, I keep getting duplicates. The phone (Moto Z Force Droid) gives me several options for contact list, Cloud, Verizon, Google, custom.

Does that have anything to do with it?
