I purchased a 2013 Ford F150 with MFT but no navigation. I took the APIM with navigation out of another 2013 Ford F150 and installed it into mine to give me the navigation feature. Since doing that, I now get a 911 assist fault message on the touch screen as well as an audible "911 assist is not operational. Please contact dealer for service". I have tried a master reset, disconnected the battery cable, upgraded SYNC, and even tried a new RCM (Restraints Control Module) from the same truck the APIM came from. The dealer is no help because the warranty is void due to a salvage title. Can anyone help me get around this? Thanks in advance!

Why does 911 assist and the bluetooth message have to be modal dialogs that shut out every other user action? When I get in my car, I want to tap the screen and make things happen. Instead, I wait for SYNC to boot up, then I wait for these two dialogs to display. Very ppoor design. Worse, the 911 assist message cannot be suppressed in any way. I know it's on. It's always on, dammit! I may be getting older, but my memory is still at least that good. Oh, and the reason I always want to tap my screen? Because I stopped using the USB option to play my ipod because it was so buggy, and I now use my iphone via bluetooth all the time. But that doesn't stay on. Stop to grab something quickly at the convenience store, get gas, whatever, and I have to turn BT on in the media panel each and every freakin' time. The design flaws in this system are so bad that I literally have warned people not to buy Ford because of it.
