  1. Hi Graham. Assuming all necessary settings are enabled in your Drivers Information Center, your best course of action is to set up a service appointment so the issue can be properly diagnosed and corrected. There are no other owner configurable or adjustable settings. Let us know how you make out and good luck.

    Temperature control broken?

Hi dd. This is the SYNC 3 section, and your Taurus has SYNC 1, SYNC 2 or MyFordTouch. While this thread may be seen by those familiar with SYNC1/SYNC 2/MyFordTouch, it may be better if you post it lower down in the appropriate SYNC 1/SYNC 2/MyFordTouch sub-forum. Good luck.
  3. Hi alcohenusa. I thought I was on the Ford Fusion Forum when I answered this question. One of the drawbacks of being involved in so many forums and brain clouds. 😉 That was why I stated SYNC 3 was not available on the Fusion until the 2017 model year. And I was specifically referring only to the Fusion. This is also a good example of why it always helps when a member posts their vehicle model/model year when asking questions. But you are correct that SYNC 3 was available in the 2016 model year on some Ford/Lincoln models. Thanks for catching that and good luck.
  4. Hi nrupert. Multitask hit the nail on the head. The 2016 Fusion was not equipped with SYNC 3 from the factory. The 2016 models were equipped with either SYNC w/MyFord (base models), or SYNC w/MyFord Touch (higher end models). SYNC 3 was not available in the Fusion until the 2017 model year. So if your Fusion has SYNC 3 now, it means a previous owner installed it. Therefore, it is not eligible to download updates from the SYNC 3 update website. You will need someone to supply files to you (as you are trying for), or find another aftermarket solution. Good luck.
  5. Hi gang. According to the Lincoln SYNC 3 NAV map update website, the latest SYNC 3 NAV map update will be released September 1st: https://syncnavigation.com/lincoln/ Good luck.

2021 SYNC 3 NAV map update.

Hi Muzicman. No. As BL stated, there is a license file tied to the individual vehicle VIN, which is necessary for the installation. You would not have that license file for your 2017 Fusion, so the installation would fail. Good luck.

2021 SYNC 3 NAV map update.

Hi Muzicman. No. And they were not different before, other than version different numbers, in order to denote SYNC version. Previously, the NAV map version numbers varied by the middle digit (i.e. NA 1 19 for SYNC 3.0, vs. NA 2 19 for SYNC 3.4). The middle digit only denoted SYNC 3.0 or SYNC 3.4. However, the actual information contained on the maps was the same. Now, the NAV map version numbers are the same. It only means the versions were consolidated. All road/POI etc.information was and still is identical. Good luck.

2021 SYNC 3 NAV map update.

Hi alcohenusa. Well, that is certainly a twisty new twist. 😲 I am still trying to decide if I will just skip a year, then get the 5 year subscription when NA 1 or 2 21 come out next year...or get it now. Thanks for the info and good luck.

2021 SYNC 3 NAV map update.

Hi alcohenusa. Thanks for the information, I am passing it on to others in the MKZ/Fusion/SYNC/Lincoln/Ford forums. Good luck.

2021 SYNC 3 NAV map update.

Hi alcohenusa. Just saw that same complaint by a member on a Fusion forum who downloaded the update. Looks like a similar issue as the license file fiasco you referred to. I'll post back and let you know if there is any update over there. Let us know if you hear back on your email and good luck.

2021 SYNC 3 NAV map update.

Hi alcohenusa. Yes, I also just saw that they corrected the website and was coming back to mention it. Good luck.

2021 SYNC 3 NAV map update.

Hi alcohenusa. Yes, for SYNC 3.0, the "current" version is NA 1 19. The update being offered is NA 1 20. And I am in the same boat as you. First two updates were free (to NA 1 18 and NA 1 19. Now I would need to pay. For SYNC 3.4, the current version is/was NA 2 19. The update version available is NA 2 20. Good luck.

Hi Muzicman. So was I. Plus, I added the Ford SYNC 3 NAV map update website. Good luck.

2021 SYNC 3 NAV map update.

Hi Muzicman. Yes, as the subject title stated, it is the 2021 SYNC 3 NAV map update. No mention was made of it being "vehicle dependent". I own Lincolns, so linked to the Lincoln SYNC 3 NAV map update website. Ford vehicles have a separate Ford SYNC 3 NAV map update website, located here: https://syncnavigation.com/ford/ Good luck.
  15. Hi Papa. Considering your previous and new information, my first thought is that it is a ZTE compatibility issue. Second guess is going to be a CyanLabs issue/glitch. Or even possibly both. Blind Internet diagnosis, even without several variables, has its limits. 😉 Keep us updated on what you find and good luck.
  16. Hi Papa. You have two possible issues that jump out. First...Yes, SYNC 3 does have a compatible device list, and perhaps your ZTE phone is not on it (very possible). You can find the list on the Lincoln or Ford owner sites in the SYNC sections. Second, you have used CyanLabs aftermarket software to update your SYNC system, and it is known to have "little" bugs here and there. What model/model year is your vehicle? Why are you using the CyanLabs software? Was your vehicle not equipped with SYNC 3.4 from the factory? Your best bet would be to contact CyanLabs to see if this is a know issue that they have a solution to. Good luck.

    Nav voice issues

Hi mmk. Your posts are a bit confusing. You stated you updated "from the original sync system to a Sync3 with nav". That would lead us to believe your Fusion did not have NAV before. So it is difficult to understand how were you having the same problem (loss of radio volume after NAV voice commands) before you updated, since you did not have NAV before. Anyway...once you used CyanLabs aftermarket SYNC software (which often causes bugs like this), all bets are off as concerning what the problem may be or how to correct it. This is not a problem I have heard of with factory SYNC vehicles, so as Multitask recommended, your best bet would be to contact CyanLabs and see if it is a know issue that they have a resolution for. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  18. Hi gang. There is a new SYNC 3 update available. It is listed as "SYNC v3.0.20204". Go to the Lincoln or Ford Owners website to download. I have downloaded the file to my USB drive and will post back when I have time to take the required 30+ minute drive (instructions state it will take 25-35 minutes for this update). Can also state that the instructions have been made much clearer and understandable for this update. Good luck everyone.

    Reset sync 3

Hi Sue. Unfortunately yes, it seems to be a "dead system". There is no way to accurately diagnose this over the Internet. You have tried all the usual self-help remedies. (battery, fuses etc.). It could be a bad APIM or a handful or more other causes. If the vehicle is out of warranty, there is nothing that can be done now, other than pay to have it diagnosed and repaired. Or purchase an aftermarket Audio system that will give you Bluetooth connectivity, etc. Just out of curiosity, you purchased a used vehicle with a non-working SYNC system. When did you first discover it did not work? Did the car have any sort of CPO or Dealer warranty? if yes, did you ever bring it back to the Dealership to have it repaired during the warranty period? We have to assume not. Keep us updated and good luck.

Hi MADRON. Please do not take this personally, as you are not the first or last to have problems with a SYNC update: These types of issues are often (but not always) caused by accidental "user error", due to missing/misunderstanding a step in the instructions etc. While it is difficult to diagnose an issue like this over the Internet, this sounds like a possibility. So first...Try to re-download the SYNC 3 update to your computer, then copy the necessary files over to the freshly formatted USB drive etc., by carefully following the instructions exactly as listed on the Ford SYNC 3 update website. Skip YouTube videos for now. In addition, perhaps have a computer savvy family member or friend try it. Sometimes a fresh set of eyes may see something we are missing. If that still will not work, here are some other possibilities: First...Are you using a PC or Mac? Some (not all) Mac users have had trouble with the unzipping end of things. If you still have trouble and are using a Mac, I would recommend trying the entire process using a PC, if you can. If that does not work: Try another USB drive. Some just don't seem to agree with the SYNC system. Still won't work? Are you using a USB 2 or USB 3 flash drive? Whichever you are using, switch to the other. Whether coincidental or not, all of these small changes have seemed to work for others at one time or another. And you can always try those suggestions in a different order, if it makes better logistical sense for your situation. Keep us updated and good luck.

    Reset sync 3

Hi Sue. You purchased the car used and SYNC has not worked since you purchased it? Did you purchase the car from a Ford Dealer? Was there any type of used car warranty when you purchased it? If yes, when did you first let the Dealer know that SYNC did not work? Assuming you used the correct reset procedure that is listed in your Owners Manual (not just something you found online, which may be right or wrong), there is not much more self help that you can try. You have already tried all the other normal suggestions. Disconnected the battery, fuses etc. Having the underlying problem diagnosed and corrected may be your only other option. If other members have any ideas, I am sure they will jump in to help. Keep us updated and good luck.

    Lost HD Radio

Hi Rob. I would tend to agree with you that it would be a heck of a coincidence that the unit just happened to fail around the same time you were performing FORScan changes. Considering the FORScan variables, I'm out of ideas. Perhaps/hopefully a member from the tech side of things will jump in to help. Keep us updated and good luck.

    Lost HD Radio

Hi Rob. What is your vehicle model and model year? What SYNC version is currently in your vehicle? Have you checked the proper Lincoln (or Ford) SYNC 3 update website for any SYNC updates for your vehicle? Get back to us and good luck.

    No navigation audio

Hi ksquared. First, have you ever gone to the Ford SYNC 3 update website to check for updates to your SYNC 3 software? It seems (I can't be sure) from the version number that you may be running an older SYNC 3 version. If you have never updated your SYNC software, I would recommend you do that first. You can check here: https://help.ford.com/update-sync/ If there is an available update, download and install it. Next, are you using the built in Navigation system or are you connecting your phone via USB and using Google Maps, Apple Maps, etc.? Additionally, have you checked to be sure your NAV volume is not muted? Let us know how you make out and good luck.

    Map Update Error

Hi bnewt. The only way to re-download the files (once you have left the website after the initial download) is to use the link in the confirmation E-mail, which you say you never received. Or to use the clean downloaded ZIP file that you would have had on your computer, if you had been able to download it in the first place. But you were never able to download it. The situation alcohenusa was referring to was when there was a glitch in the system, and incorrect license files were given to owners while downloading. It was a short lived glitch which Lincoln/Ford quickly caught and corrected. It happened to me also, but does not apply to your situation, since you already have the correct license file.. And as covered in another of your threads about this, Multitask's update occurred over Wi-Fi, so he never needed to download the NAV update files at all. All of that being said, there is absolutely no reason to be afraid to perform the installation. Simply follow the instructions, keep the vehicle running (I prefer to do it on a long drive, as opposed to leaving it running in the driveway etc.) and all should go well. In addition (this has been covered extensively in other threads): There can be a few false "Your update is complete" messages during the install, which are then followed by the installation continuing. So be sure to leave the USB stick in for at least 10 minutes after any "Your Installation is complete' messages pop up. This will ensure it is not a false message. If you have any other questions, we are happy to help. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
