Python63, One other thing.... Did you try entering your VIN on this site to see what Ford shows for you? https://www.ford.com/support/sync-maps-updates/

As far as the version, you should be able to navigate to the 'about' area, and see if you see 'about sync' to get a version # I seem to remember that 4.4 is about the latest you want to do or get, like Alcoa said 4.6 put in settings that they did not want. and were at the time able to roll back.

If you can set up a place where I can drop the zip file, let me know. It's about 97MB. I really don't think there should be any problem using this, but you never know. Of course, the worst that could happen is that the system ends up bricked and neither one of us wants that to happen. I'm not sure what the Ford site look likes for the older vehicles at this point. They stopped providing updates several years ago.

Would be interested in trying that. I'm wondering if through online updates ford thinks it is up to date but maybe somewhere along the line, it got rolled back. I wish I could tell what version ford thinks my escape has. Thanks!

Hi Python63. In my 2011 Mariner (same as the Escape), the latest available was 4.6. Unfortunately, in 4.6 they implemented some ‘safety’ features and took away functionality so I rolled back to 4.4 which was the version where they implemented the song metadata over bluetooth. I no longer have the Mariner, but I still have the 4.4 files. You are welcome to try to install that update on your vehicle and see if it works. Of course, this would be at your own risk and results could be unpredictable (or worse).

Hi Python. If the Ford SYNC website shows you are up to date, then your current version is the latest version compatible with your vehicle. Good luck.

Just because Ford shows ver 4 is available, does not mean your vehicle can use/take it. Have you tried a factory reset? all that does is remove all the setting back to factory, NOT take you back to the factory version.

I have a 2012 Escape XLT, with gen1 sync in it (no screen, just text). According to my FPN number, I am on v3.2.2.2 which is 9 versions behind version chart on fords site but based on my vin, I don't need updated. Could a previous owner have rolled back, or that's it for my vehicle? No probs except it does not display song name. Ford shows gen1 up to v4.2.1 thank you!!

  16. Hello all! I have a 2016 Ford Fusion Energi Titanium with the Sony sound system. The back speakers have been giving me an issue. The center speakers in the back work fine, but the two subs on each side go in and out while driving and while sitting still. The subs will work for 5 min, then will stop for like 30 minutes. It’s very unpredictable. I’ve checked the wiring in the trunk that runs to the speakers and they all seem pretty welll connected. I’ve noticed that the subs work when the engine kicks on (after the hybrid battery is depleted and needs to be charged.) Do I have a fuse problem here, or is it something more serious? Can anyone please recommend a fix for this? Thanks!
  17. Is there any way to disconnect the Sync auto connect? I have my phone connected to my Bluetooth headset in the house while I work and when my wife starts up the 2018 ford fusion hybrid out in the driveway it automatically connects to my phone and disconnects my headset. Very frustrating and I would like to be able to disconnect that function. I do not want to unpair the phone however as I like to be able to connect it when I drive that car. Does Sync have an auto function radio button that I can deselect or something similar?

    SYNC 3 WIFI mac address

Hi Wiremaniac. The easiest way around this is to go to your router and turn off MAC filtering, connect the vehicle to wifi, and then check the router's connected devices list. Add the car's MAC address to the allowed devices, and then re-enable MAC address filtering. That is, IF you have control over your router. Good luck!

    I have a 2020 F-150 XLT. Unfortunately there isn’t anything there. Thanks

    SYNC 3 WIFI mac address

Hi Wiremaniac. I don't have access to my vehicle at the moment, so off memory: Try going into Settings, then look in the "About SYNC" section. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  21. I am trying to connect to the wifi at my residence which relies on mac address filtering for security purposes. Does anyone know where to find the vehicle's wifi mac address?
  22. I am having trouble with the Ford Pass app where it is not updating the information on the "Vehicle" screen of my 2020 F-150 XLT. I have tried soft resets but to no avail. I am leading up to doing a master reset, but it indicates that the system will be restored to factory defaults. Since I am not certain that my upgrades to the vehicle (trailer brake controller and subwoofer) will be restored, I am hesitant to do the master reset. This could be something to worry about if I have to pay the dealership to reprogram the system. I do not know if any of the technicians are saving the new configurations to disk/thumb drive after performing an upgrade. So, is this a valid concern? Is it possible for me to save the configuration without having specialized interface equipment?
  23. I do not think it was either. Only way to know is after doing both, then plugging it in, if it is there, great. But if not then it was not meant to be. Plus a dealer would know too... if they chose to tell you. Of they say yes, couple be you need the newer USB module for it.... can get one from a later car... car-part.com to see what might work.
  24. Hi cp1084 and welcome to the Ford SYNC Forum. Concerning Bluetooth: Try disconnecting your phone and deleting the SYNC Bluetooth connection on your phone. Then reboot you phone. Then perform a SYNC Master Reset (instructions on how to do so are in your Owners Manual). Then re-pair your phone to SYNC. See if that works. If you do not have your Owners Manual hard copy, you can download the PDF version here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/parts-service/resources/owner-manuals/ Concerning Apple CarPlay: Did Apple CarPlay work in your vehicle before you performed the update? Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe Apple CarPlay was available in early SYNC 3 versions (such as yours) and yours can not be updated for that feature. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  25. Guys would appreciate any help, I just updated via USB from the Ford site my wifes 16 Flex Sync 3 from 1.0 to 3.0. It said completed and I even changed the USB hub in the console but Apple Car Play still doesn’t work and now blue tooth doesn’t work at all. Any advice? SYNC Region: NA Navigation Variant: Nav Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20 Install Type: OEM Old SYNC Version: 1.0 New SYNC Version: 3.0 Do you have a error message, if so what is it? Update Method: Official Ford
  26. FAT32 or exFAT will work, if you format with a mac make sure you are using MBR
